Now that we’ve had some time to digest news about the next batch of Marvel movies, enough of the initial excitement has worn off and we’re left in a waiting period. Waiting for the far-off release dates, waiting for further casting, over-analyzing potential plot lines, the list goes on and on.
Coming off the crazy success of “The Avengers,” the most intriguing aspects of “Iron Man 3″ and the “Captain America” and “Thor” sequels are how and if the other Avengers will lend a hand plot or cameo-wise. I for one was very pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the arc of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Natasha Romanov and Clint Barton and would love to see them onscreen again sooner rather than later.
When MTV News caught up with Barton in the flesh, aka actor Jeremy Renner, I asked him for his thoughts on the movie news and if he hopes to continue to explore Hawkeye’s story.
“It’s a great character. There’s a lot to explore there for me personally but I have no idea where they’ll go with it,” Renner said during the press day for his other anticipated action-er, “The Bourne Legacy.”
“That’s another sort of, [there are] puppeteers, they have their own ideas,” he said, indicating that the power players that be are still figuring everything out. “I have no idea what’s going on, people are probably more informed than I am of the reality of me being in another movie.”
Fair enough. We know the Marvel movie secrets are basically under a Fort Knox-esque level of security and actors suffer severe punishment if they let anything slip, but I was curious to know if in dealing with so much that is “unknown,” whether or not Renner has to leave certain time frames open in his shooting schedules should the cameo or supporting roles pop up last minute.
“I’m here talking to you now and that’s all I know, really, and maybe lunch is coming up here soon,” he said.
So as adept as he is at giving the non-answer, it seems more likely that he really doesn’t know anything yet and hasn’t been spending his free time over-analyzing the S.H.I.E.L.D. possibilities in “Winter Soldier,” and/or keeping up with the rumor mill. He’s got other dramatic movie roles to consider in addition to the super heroic ones.

They should do more Hawkeye movie stuff. (Blah, I don’t feel like thinking about what to write in a proper grammatical manner.)
It would be awesome if they did a movie about Hawkeye and Black Widow!!!
You never know. ☺☺
