jeremy renner

As few may know, Jeremy’s first passion for the arts began not on stage or on the silver-screen, but with a set of drums. He rocked out in his high school band before ever considering pursuing a career as an actor. Jeremy has written and produced much of his own original material featuring his skills on piano, guitar, and his powerful vocals.

Though his sky-rocketing acting career has left little time to work on his own musical endeavors, Jeremy takes the opportunity to show support and encouragement for his friends’ pursuit of their musical aspirations whenever possible. We’d like to introduce to you a few of them here:

Brother Sal

Brother Sal

Our very first addition to the new Music page is Brother Sal; a talented musician and a very close friend of Jeremy’s.

Peter Grumbine on Brother Sal:
“Sal’s sound is so organic and ageless that it moves you on an almost animalistic level, but there’s also a lot of wisdom in these songs too. They’re the stories and celebrations of life’s victories and defeats and the long van ride in between. The stories are personal but the feelings behind them are universal and transcendent. You may have suffered different losses and you may have won under different circumstances, but you know the feelings behind these songs, and Sal sings with such unadulterated passion that the commonality of the emotion resonates with everyone in the room.”

The Vashta Nerada

The Vashta Nerada

The Vashta Nerada is a rock band from Los Angeles who derive their bold sound from bands like The Mars Volta, Queens of the Stone Age, and Radiohead.

Originating out of Modesto, California, singer/songwriter Jeff Bonilla enlisted the talents of producer Adam Ruppel and bassist Anthony Palermo to help him realize his musical vision. After several months of work in the studio and armed with their self-titled album, Jeff and Anthony relocated to Los Angeles determined to discover musicians capable of translating the unique sound of the album to the stage. There they met drum student at the Musician’s Institute, A.J. Brown and Hendrix-fanatic and Chicago native, Mark Perez.

The Vashta Nerada continues to deliver memorable performances all over Southern California, garnering new fans with every show.
